CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, & PERMITS:
Valid certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or National Cued Speed Association

?Valid Georgia Educational Interpreter License issued by GAPSC


QUALIFICATIONS:
Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)

Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.   

Provides a Criminal Background Check with results that adhere to the Evans County Board of Education Policy GAK(1)

Participates in a pre-employment drug screening as described in the Evans County Board of Education Policy GAMA


JOB RESPONSIBILITES (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO):
Assists deaf and hard of hearing students in academic and nonacademic activities, individually or in groups as well as deaf or hard of hearing staff and parents for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.

Interprets or transliterates all language necessary for student's education for the purpose of facilitating effective communication.

Prepares for daily classroom activities ahead of class for the purpose of ensuring a clear understanding and interpretation.

Provides support to the deaf or hard of hearing student for the purpose of facilitating communication and/or reinforcing classroom objectives.

Maintains regular, punctual attendance

EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent or designated Supervisor in accordance with the Georgia Department of Education Policy GBI:  Teacher and Leader Evaluations

SALARY:
Negotiated
