REPORTS TO:  School Principal

FLSA STATUS:  Non-Exempt

SUPERVISES:  n/a

POSITION STATUS:  Non-Contracted / Salaried

EVALUATION:  Position evaluated by Principal

WORK YEAR:  195 days / 40 hours weekly

EVALUATION INSTRUMENT:  Local

SALARY SCHEDULE:  Clerical Personnel

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Salary and benefits shall be paid according to system’s approved salary schedule.  
  • Length of work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
  • A service employee who is employed in a non-certificated position; who is eligible to  participate in the Teachers Retirement System or its local equivalent; and who works at  least 24 hours a week will be eligible for health insurance.
  • Any non-Teacher Retirement System (TRS) eligible employee will have a FICA deduction.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. State approved High School Equivalency
  1. At least two (2) years of successful office experience preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Extensive knowledge of the operation and program of the school system.  Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures, grammar, spelling, and business correspondence.  Ability to exercise independent judgment.  Ability to deal effectively and courteously with students, school personnel, parents, and public.  Ability to use computer. 

 

JOB GOAL:

To ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office to support a positive educational 

experience for students.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

   

1.

Serves as school receptionist, greeting public with a courteous and friendly disposition.

2.

Answers telephone, transmits messages, routes calls to appropriate persons.

3.

Maintains confidentiality of student information with visitors and via telephone.

4.

Orders and maintains inventory of office supplies; checks in and processes orders.

5.

Assists in the operation and maintenance of all office machines and equipment.

6.

Assists students.

7.

Provides daily administrative support by performing a variety of secretarial/clerical functions.

8.

Serves as site administrator for Absence Management (AESOP) system.

9.

Maintains accurate teacher attendance records in Absence Management system.

10.

Secures substitute teachers as needed.

11.

Submits timesheets to system Payroll & Benefits Clerk.

12.

Maintains roster of bus routes and bus numbers.

13.

Signs students in/out as required by school procedures.

14.

Makes copies as requested.

15.

Collects money and makes daily deposit according to school procedures.

16.

Sorts and delivers incoming and outgoing mail.

17.

Manages lost and found items.

18.

Keeps updated roster of staff directory information.

19.

Responds to inquiries in a timely manner.

20.

Follows work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable and punctual manner.

21.

Performs other tasks consistent with goals and objectives that support the vision and mission of the Evans County School System.

22.

Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Medium Work:  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.
