TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 
  • Length of work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 
  1. Must be hired as a teacher of record in the Evans County Charter School System.  These qualifications are posted separately. 
  2. Preferred Experience: Min of 3-5 years prior coaching experience (Head or lead assistant) and/or collegiate player experience.
  3. Willing and able to coach a secondary sport.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to communicate effectively with students, including those with disabilities. Knowledge of First 

Aid and CPR.  Ability to follow directions and work as a team.  Deep understanding of basketball 

principles, strategy, and coaching plans.

 

JOB GOAL:

To coach players using successful team approaches and sport specific guidelines to a successful 

season.  Build a basketball feeder program by communicating with middle school and recreation 

department personnel to support the High School program

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 
    • Manage staff and conduct/monitor practice plans and game tactics for the JV/Varsity teams.
    • Provide leadership including assisting/teaching middle school coaches in helping each participating student achieve a high level of skill necessary for successful performance.
    • Create/join a summer league to play games and attend a team camp throughout the summer along with a 4-1 skill development program. 
    • Attend/direct practices daily with a practice plan
    • Provide Student-Athletes with college visits/game/practice observations
    • Be a role model for student-athletes and work with the local recreation department by Initiating recreation relations, and be visible/active with the youth.
    • Acquire full bus CDL license (via training within ECCSS).
    • Study, evaluate and implement basketball strategy and utilize proper equipment.
    • Help with fund-raising and continuing development of positive public relations with alumni and the community.
    • Inform student-athletes, administration  and families of academic progress.
  • Commit to providing an environment of highly competitive sportsmanship and promoting individual confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills.

    • Regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
    • Ability to be present at the physical work site
    • Meets the certification requirement of the school system.
    • Constant or consistent ability to supervise and manage students. 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Heavy Work:  Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
